Fenben cancer treatment is a medication that is used to treat parasitic infections in animals. It was also discovered that the drug can kill cancer cells in a laboratory setting, and is therefore being researched as a potential anti-cancer medication for humans. Currently, however, there is not enough evidence from randomized clinical trials to determine whether or not the drug can actually cure cancer.
A recent scientific publication suggests that fenbendazole may be able to reactivate the p53 gene inside of cancer cells, and is thus considered an anti-cancer drug. This discovery has been dubbed the Joe Tippens Protocol, and is receiving a lot of attention in the media, leading many people to believe that ingesting fenbendazole can kill cancer.
In this study, we investigated how fenbendazole affects the cellular level of colorectal cancer cells. Our findings suggest that the preferential elimination of cancer cells by fenbendazole is a result of both microtubule disruption and p53 stabilization. Furthermore, fenbendazole interferes with glucose metabolism of cancer cells by down regulation of GLUT transporters and key glycolytic enzymes.
In addition, fenbendazole can significantly reduce the number of cancer cells in a culture by blocking their proliferation and inhibiting the growth of new cancer cell colonies. These results suggest that fenbendazole has potential as an anti-cancer agent in combination with other drugs.
