RV AC Units – Which Type is Right For Your RV

0

If you’re in the market for a new RV air conditioning unit, you have plenty of options to choose from. Although rooftop units are undoubtedly the most common and popular, there are other AC types that may be better suited for your specific needs.

For example, window AC units offer a much more efficient cooling alternative to rooftop models. They take up very little space, don’t obstruct windows or reduce natural light, and they can be operated while your RV is in motion. However, you’ll need to find a place to store them when you aren’t using them and they do tend to be noisy.

Another option is an under bench unit that’s mounted underneath the bench in your RV. These are quiet, operate off of propane and provide superior cooling performance when compared to traditional ceiling AC units. However, they do require some maintenance to keep them running at their best. You’ll need to remove the unit from its metal flange, pull out the filter and clean or replace it once per month during use and at the end of each camping season.

When shopping for a new RV ac unit, you’ll want to consider the BTU rating and other features such as the ability to operate in different modes and remote control functionality. You’ll also want to look for a unit that is Energy Star certified to ensure it meets or exceeds energy efficiency standards. Lastly, look for units that feature a programmable timer to help conserve energy and reduce operating costs in the long run. norcold refrigerators
